The Seagate Scorpion
40 DAT drive has been designed to provide a level of reliability
that sets the standard in the DDS technology arena. The Scorpion
40 DAT drive incorporates features such as an environmentally
sealed head-to-tape interface chamber and sapphire media cleaning
blade to control airborne and media-based contaminants as well
as automated head and capstan cleaning mechanisms that remove
debris during normal tape operations. These and other technological
features result in Seagate’s Scorpion 40 DAT drives having
the highest MTBF ratings in the DAT marketplace with over 412,000
hours at a 20 percent duty cycle.
Scorpion 40 delivers these reliability features without compromising
capacity or transfer rates. With a compressed capacity of
40 Gbytes per cartridge and transfer rates of up to 330 Mbytes
per minute, you can back up and protect 67 percent more data
150 percent faster than any previous-generation DDS product.
The Scorpion 40 comes installed in our high quality external
enclosure. The external enclosure has two HD68-pin connectors,
a 40 Watt power supply, a cooling fan, a 16 position SCSI
ID switch, and an Ultra2 active terminator. Case dimensions
are 2.7" x 8.25" x 11".
