The Seagate Barracuda
180 is a high performance 7,200 RPM drive with the highest capacity
in the world! The Barracuda 180 advances areal densities to
more than 15 GB and sustained data rates as high as 47 MB per
second. The Barracuda 180 is the latest addition to the award
winning Barracuda 7,200-RPM disc drive family. The Barracuda
180, the seventh-generation of the Barracuda family, offers
value, performance and flexibility for bulk-storage applications.
The Barracuda 180 benefits from significant performance enhancements
with Seagate's Advanced Multidrive System (SAMS) that optimizes
performance in server and RAID applications, Rotational Vibration
Protection System that detects and adjusts for physical movement
of the drive within the cabinet, G-Force Protection a drive
enhancement that protects the drive's data from external shock,
and the Temperature Sensor warns the host when temperatures
exceed required limits.
The Barracuda 180 is installed in our high quality external
enclosure, and features a 7.4ms average seek time, 16MB cache
buffer, and a five year manufacturer's warranty. It is capable
of maximum external (I/O) data transfer rates of up to 160MB/second.
The Barracuda 180 will work on Wide, Ultra Wide, Ultra2, or
Ultra 160 controllers at the controller's maximum speed. To
achieve 160MB/sec burst transfer rate, an Ultra160 SCSI controller
card is required.
The external enclosure has two standard Ultra 160 SCSI 68-pin
connectors, a 40 Watt power supply, a cooling fan, a 16 position
SCSI ID switch, and an Ultra 160 active terminator. Case dimensions
are 2.7" x 8.25" x 11". For this external hard
drive, you will need an external SCSI cable.
